Designed for novice, semi professional and professional photographers, the Canon EOS 5D Mark III DSLR will surprise you with the amount of innovative features it brings to the table. The colossal 22.3MP capabilities of the camera capture images at full frame size (24 x 36mm format). The level of detail and clarity that it delivers matches little else. Add to that a highly advanced DIGIC 5 image processor, and you get a camera that relentlessly delivers shot after shot of amazing pictures. The high performance 61 point AF system on this black camera ensures that the focus remains on the subject irrespective of the lighting conditions or whether the subject is still or moving.
High Speed Continuous Shooting
The amalgamation of 8 channel data readout from the 22.3 Megapixel CMOS sensor and the processing abilities of DIGIC 5 Image Processor with a faster shutter and mirror system helps you capture full frame images and record them quickly to UDMA or SD cards lodged into the dual card slots of the camera. This amazing camera can record at up to 6.0 fps (RAW JPEG), and is perfect for fixed focus scenarios.
Manual Exposure Control, Multiple Frame Rates and Selectable All i frame or IPB Compression Integrated into EOS HD Video
The EOS 5D Mark III offers both All I and IPB compression, supports H.264/MPEG 4 AVC High Profile, and automatically splits files greater than 4GB (FAT specifications) for uninterrupted video recording. It provides you with the option of time coding either only when you are recording videos (Rec Run) or at all times (Free Run). This feature is extremely useful when you are shooting with multiple cameras. The EOS 5D Mark III also provides better audio recording customization capabilities by offering 64 step volume control that can be accessed via the Quick Control screen when shooting videos. The dedicated headphone jack further increases the convenience in shooting. The CMOS sensor's new drive system reduces the color artifacts and moiré, thereby increasing the image processing performance. Color artifacts and moiré are a common problem occurring in scenes with horizontal lines. This enables the camera to record at a number of frame rates up to ISO 25600 in H mode.
iFCL Metering with 63 Zone Dual Layering Metering Sensor
The AF readings of the EOS 5D Mark III are integrated into the 63 zone multi layer iFCL (intelligent Focus Color Luminance) Metering System. This setup delivers unprecedented accuracy even in changing lighting conditions by taking into account the luminosity and color surrounding the chosen AF points. With evaluative, center weighted, partial and spot metering and 5 step exposure compensation, this metering sensor helps deliver perfect shots every time.
Self Cleaning Sensor Unit
This innovative unit, which served well in the EOS 5D Mark II, has been thoroughly revamped for the new EOS 5D Mark III for more efficient removal of dust to ensure clearer images. This sensor unit vibrates the glass with ultrasound, thereby removing the fine dust particles that accumulate on the surface of the infrared absorbing and ultraviolet blocking glass. An adsorbent unit at the bottom absorbs these particles. This unit is not affected by external contaminants as it is completely sealed. The anti dust fluorine coating on its front face of the low pass filter makes it easier to eliminate damp or sticky dust particles.
Intelligent Viewfinder with Superimposed LCD
Offering a 100 percent field of view with a magnification of 0.71x, a viewing angle of 34.1°, and a 21mm eye point, the EOS 5D Mark III's Intelligent Viewfinder makes it easy for you to compose your shots. With aspherical lens construction, this viewfinder displays images with less distortion and color aberration than the earlier models. The transparent LCD superimposes a customizable combination of gridlines and focus points directly above the image. You can direct the AF status indicator to be displayed within or outside the viewfinder’s image area. With this viewfinder, you have the option of either looking only at the scene or at all the shooting data along with it. By choosing to look just at the image, you can concentrate fully on the shot without getting distracted. This can prove to be advantageous in a number of shooting situations.
3.2 inch TFT LCD Monitor
With 1,040,000 dots, anti reflective construction, and Canon's Clear View II technology, the 3.2 inch TFT LCD monitor of the EOS 5D Mark III displays bright and clear images across a variety of shooting scenarios. Along with reviewing you captured images and videos, it also helps you shoot high quality movies in the Live View mode. The Live View mode, along with the dual axis electronic level, enables you to display grid lines in 9 sections, 24 sections, or 9 sections with diagonals. The dedicated Magnify/Reduce button offers convenient reviewing of images. You can zoom in and out of the images by up to 10x by simple pressing this button and turning the Mail Dial. You can protect and delete images individual images or entire batches quickly and easily. You can also create slideshows with some or all images. These slide shows can be sequenced by date, folders, movies, stills, or rating. When you need detailed reference information, you can always access the feature guide for the selected menu.
New High Dynamic Range (HDR)
The EOS 5D Mark III can merge three images of varying exposure in camera to capture stunning details of the light and dark areas in a single photo. It uses the HDR to accomplish this. It is adjustable up to a range of ±3 stops with 5 different effect settings.
Multiple Exposure Control
This unique mode enables you to create film like images by using only in camera processing. You can select from among four different compositing methods, namely additive, average, bright, and dark, for accurate exposure and composition. You can shoot RAW and JPEG images with multiple exposures. The previously shot RAW images can be used as a starting point for observing and correcting the cumulative results in real time on the camera’s LCD screen. The continuous shooting multiple exposure mode even enables you to shoot multiple exposure shots of fast moving objects.
