  • USE THE RIGHT APP!
By Romona Dillingham on 09 September 2015

This product is working as described. I've noticed some reviewers are having some problems getting it connected to wifi. It might be the simple solution of downloading the right app from the app store. San Disk has 2-3 different apps for different flash drives, so when I downloaded the first app I saw, it did not work getting this stick connected to wifi. I then read the startup guide and noticed that I downloaded the wrong app. I got the right app and, voila! It works perfectly! SO make sure you are reading the guide that is included in the stick itself. It will show you the correct app to use! I've included a pic of what the app looks like.

  • It's Great, But Not Perfect
By Connor on 21 July 2015

    ***READ THIS FIRST***
Another review said that basic work related files were not supported, I can gladly say that is FALSE. The user guide for the product is a PDF. I have even tried Microsoft Document files and PowerPoint files and they all work well. Okay, now you can read my review.

    Review:

I just received my Sandisk Connect Wireless Stick today in the mail, and so far I love it. This review won't be too long, since I haven't experienced more than 24 hours with this product yet, so I don't have too much to say about it.

Build Quality: To start off, the build is quite nice and I like the texture of the flash drive as well. One design flaw to me is that you can only put the cap on one way, so I've mixed it up a few times already, oh well.

Functionality: Next, functionality, it works just as you expect it to. I loaded up Iron Man 3 and streamed it to my iPhone, no lag at all, even when I skip throughout the movie. Pictures and music work well also, there is an option to create a slideshow for your photos, which is a nice touch. You are able to download pictures or videos to your device from the flash drive as well. The app has a built in music player, but you cannot skip throughout the song, which seems odd to me. It has worked well for me on all the major platforms, smartphones (through their app), tablets and computers. My biggest complaint is that the connector is USB 2.0, I think Sandisk really could have made this product stellar with a USB 3.0 connector.

The App: The app performs okay, it definitely isn't 100% polished, but it works. I have found a few bugs, which aren't huge and I'm sure they will be fixed soon enough. In the app you can upload or download files to the flash drive, I haven't had any problems with this. Another cool feature is AutoBackUp for your devices camera roll. The flash drive can store single photos or an entire album, and even videos. After you're done taking pictures and videos, the next time you connect to the flash drive it will begin backing them up.

    **UPDATED**
Battery: Battery life has been phenomenal. I left this thing unplugged and turned off for more than two weeks and it's still got 90% charge (left it at 93%). Really can't complain about that. With moderate use I got a little more than a week. And with heavy use (I'm talking like you're on this thing all day) I got 3-4 days. My final word for the battery life is, wonderful.

Well, that's about it for now. Thanks for reading!

  • Very handy if you don't have wifi and need to share files
By Kathleen E. Becker on 06 August 2015

I work in a law firm, and often we go to offices or courtrooms with either "challenging" wifi, or no wifi at all. This stick makes it easy to share files with opposing counsel and experts without the hassle of cloud-based, wifi-only storage. This is a super-simple solution: uploading files is easy, sharing access is easy. Just one little thing that makes my busy life a little smoother!

  • Crash and Burn!
    By John K. on 13 October 2017

In form, being ultra compact and lite, this device is excellent, but in function it has some significant flaws. First, data transfer is relatively slow, so if you have thousands of pictures and hundreds of videos like me, it could take literally days to get it all backed up. The distance between the device and what it is connected to also plays a significant role in how well it performs. Ideally you want it as close as possible. Second, the app is very unstable and it crashes A LOT! After a crash, when you do get it back up and running, instead of resuming where it left off, it starts from scratch. This can be very frustrating, specially if you had spent a great deal of time and effort in selecting what you wanted and didn’t want transferred. I’ve also found, the more you store in it, the slower the device responds. Another caveat, the app and device will not backup or transfer any files unless you actually have the app open and up on your screen. If you need to switch between apps or use your device in any other way, text, phone call, etc, transfers will temporarily be halted. If you’re lucky, the app will resume transferring when you open it back up, however, that’s rarely the case. It’ll almost always freezes up or crashes on you. Due to these issues, I don’t really see this device as a total backup or memory expansion solution. If you just need to occasionally move a few files here and there, this device is fine, but anything more and you may regret your purchase. Battery life is acceptable but nothing to rave about. You can always hook it up to a portable power source if it does get low on the go. I was originally going to rate this device at a modest 3 stars, but after spending almost a week trying to back up my 128gb iPhone, due to the countless crashes, today my pc is telling me the files on the drive itself are now currupt! I’m going to have to dump everything on it, reformat the unit and start all over again. 11,000 Images, 550 videos, and 5 days of work wasted! Terribly disappointed!

  • Highly recommended very portable device to backup your music, pictures, video and have all necessary dcouments always available.
By Piotr on 14 January 2017

SanDisk Connect is a kind of smaller/portable version of Seagate Wireless hard drive. It allows to copy pictures, movies, music or any documents from your computer and have necessary things always available with you. If you need to see some documents for example on iPhone, just connect to drive and all is accessible. Use of this stick is very intuitive. Few thing about this device:
    - Wifi works when protection cap is put on.
    - Wifi doesn't work when stick is connected to USB.
    - There us small button to switch on/off Wifi - when not in use just switch off. This is ONLY for working in Wifi mode not when connected to USB port.
    - There is "Getting Started Guides" in many languages already included on the stick.
    - There are SanDisk applications for both iOS and Android system and file system on SanDisk is exFAT.
    - Works on Windows and macOS.
    - Empty SanDisk Wireless Stick it shows under properties in Windows - 183 GB free space.
    - To use this drive on iPhone or iPad it is necessary to have free application from SanDisk called "Connect Drive".
There is other SanDisk application called "iXpand Sync" but this one is purely for iXpand Drives. iXpand drives are use to sync you photos with iPhone or iPad and keep them on iXpand Drive to free space on your device (it has Apple Lightning connector on one side and USB on the other side) and must be connected to your device to perform backup.
    - SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick is more as external portable storage with WiFi access to anything you put on the stick - don't need to have Wifi because stick creates it own Wifi which also could be setup with WPA2 protected access. Same as on the iXpand, one of the feature is to backup photos, videos or music but all is done wirelessly.
I highly recommend this stick for anybody who likes mobility and have important stuff always available.
It is worth to also take into consideration that newest iXpand 128GB price is 96 USD when Connect Wireless 200GB costs 86 USD.
10 USD less then iXpand but more storage space.
I'm very happy with this drive and using a lot. Many times I've put some movies on stick and watched them when going by bus or when flying. Before I have been using Seagate Wireless Hard Drive but this stick is much smaller and easy to carry in your pocket.
